History of AT&T Stadium
Ground was broken on the stadium September 20, 2005. The stadium was designed by a Dallas architectural firm called HKS, Inc. They originally believed it would cost them $650 million to build, costs ended up being around $1.15 billion, which makes it one of the most expensive venues for sporting events ever built. In order to pay for the stadium they bumped up a few of the tax rates in Texas, including the sales tax, hotel occupancy tax, and car rental tax.
The stadium dome has two 300 foot arches that span from one end of the stadium to the other. It has over 3,000 Sony LCD displays, making it nearly impossible to miss anything going on wherever you may be inside the stadium.
One of the largest problems with the new stadium is the fact that there is no means of public transportation to get you to the game. The only way to get to the stadium is via car or shuttle. They are in the process of creating a bus system, but still fans continue to complain about the traffic.
