The Bankers Life Fieldhouse is a multi-purpose sporting arena located in Indianapolis, Indiana and is the home of the Indiana Pacers of the NBA and the Indiana Fever of the WNBA. History of Bankers Life Fieldhouse
The Bankers Life Fieldhouse was completed in 1999 as the Conseco Fieldhouse at a final cost of $183 million. The naming rights for the fieldhouse were sold to Conseco, a financial services organization based out of Carmel, Indiana. In 2011 the company changed the name of the fieldhouse to Bankers Life Fieldhouse which was the name of one of their subsidiaries, Bankers Life and Casualty.
The first event to be held in Bankers Life Fieldhouse was on November 6, 1999 when the Pacers played their regular-season opener against the Celtics. Later on in that year, the Pacers made it to the NBA Finals playing three games of which at the Fieldhouse. The Pacers ended up losing the the Lakers 4 games to 2.
In 2009 and in 2012, Bankers Life Fieldhouse was the site for the 2009 WNBA Finals. From 2001 – 2004 the Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League played at the Fieldhouse.
