The stadium opened as Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, honoring the recently deceased owner of the team. After Snyder bought the team and the stadium, the naming rights went to FedEx in November of 1999. They pay on average $7.6 million per year for those rights.
Even though Redskins’ have never sold out the entire stadium for a game, they have never had a game black out on local television since 1972. From 2004-2010 the Redskins’ held the record for the highest attendance.
