History of Madison Square Garden
In 1991, the Garden owners spent $200 million to renovate the facility and add 89 suites in place of hunders of upper-tier seats.
On July 24, 2013, The Madison Square Garden lease was extended ten years by the New York City Council. The idea behind this was to be able to have the arena move to a different location so that a new Pennsylvania Station structure can be built where the Garden is currently standing.
