Russell Wilson First Pitch
Russell Wilson Throws First Pitch At Safeco Field
Russell Wilson was invited to throw out the first pitch on June 7th 2013 against the New York Yankees. Russell Wilson grew up playing baseball so tossing the small round ball around wasn’t a new thing for him. In fact, Russell played a lot of baseball! When he was going to college at North Carolina State, he was a two-sport athlete – baseball and of course football. Before his senior year he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies and spent the summer playing baseball before he decided to return to the gridiron and transfer to Wisconsin.
The Pitch
Well there was a lot of buzz around Russell Wilson’s first pitch at the Seattle Mariners game. The Safeco Field scoreboard clocked him throwing the pitch at 95 MPH…after much speculation the real speed of Wilson’s pitch was made known – a cool 75 MPH which is still one of the best thrown first pitches in first pitches history!
