Ground was broken on the stadium on August 30, 2007. Target Field was completed about two and half years later on January 4, 2010. The Twins wanted a “neutral” field that would not favor the hitters nor the pitchers. By the end of the 2010 season it definitely proved to favor pitchers over hitters.
Estimated costs for the stadium originally were $390 million, but the ending cost totalled $522 million. The first tour of the stadium was on March 20 for season ticket holders. tours are available on off-days during the regular season.
