History of Wrigley Field
Ground was broken on the stadium on March 4, 1914. Wrigley Field was completed a month later on April 23, 1914. In 1915 William Wrigley bought the Chicago Cubs from Charles P Taft for $500,000. He immediately moved the team to the new stadium that was only two years old.
In 1927 an upper deck was added. 10 years later ivy lines were planted on the outfield walls. Even though Wrigley Field has been the setting for multiple World Series games, the Cubs have never actuall played in one of them. The only time the Cubs won the World Series they were still playing at their old Stadium.
